Neolithic Revolution: Why Was it Important?

January 28, 2009 at 11:45 am (Paleolithic & Neolithic World)

The Neolithic Revolution was important because of the reasons that people learned how to farm and domesticate animals, they started to settle in one place and were no longer nomads, and also because of the better technology at that time. Since they started growing their own food, they did no need to move from place to place looking for food anymore. Little by little groups of people started living together in one settled place and that’s how cities started. This cities were better than living in caves and moving around. As the cities grew bigger and bigger, leaders were formed to keep food from being scarce. With that, also wealth status appeared dependiong on how much possesions a person had. To find out ways to protect their crops and measure the total number of seeds for next year, farmers created calendars to keep track of time. With the domestication of animals and farming, Neolithic people made clothing out of animal skin and vegetable fibers. Also they made tools such as smooth, polished ax heads and chipped arrowheads.
